History

Concordia First UMC was originally located at 701 Broadway in downtown Concordia. The original location is where the Frank Carlson Library is now located. The church was established at the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1871-1872. Rev. R.P. West and Pius Bean were key people in starting the church.

In the 1960’s Rev.Richard Taylor helped the church to build the church that is now located at 740 W 11th. More space was needed for Sunday school rooms and the people of the church wanted the building to be accessible to all who came to worship and grow closer to God.  An elevator was added to make both levels of the church fully accessible in 2008 and in 2011 a bathroom remodel was started and completed.

We remain a congregation committed to the work of Christ.  Our purpose is to provide a place for all to BELONG to our community, BELIEVE in and experience the transforming love of Jesus Christ, and BECOME his disciples.
